Summer Fun at Palomar Observatory

In all the time I have lived here I have never gone to the Palomar Observatory. I bet some of you out there haven't either. Well if you are worried about how to keep your kids minds from going to sleep this summer a trip to the Observatory is the thing to do! It's less than a 2 hour drive. And look for the fresh fruit stands to pick up some produce on the way home. They have guided tours on Saturday and Sunday at 11:30, 1:30 and 2:30. Tickets for the tour are $5.00 and sold at the gift shop. The tour is NOT recommended for children under 6. And your cell phone won't work past 5,000 feet.

The observatory is at the end of SR6 and parking is plentiful.there is a lovely picnic area if you happen to pack your own picnic lunch or dinner. Goto:http://astro.caltech.edu/palomar or palomarsummit.com for more information.
